XXL 8.25" Extra Long Bicycle Grips

The ESI Grips XXL 8.25" Extra Long Bicycle Grips are designed for riders who need more hand coverage and all-day comfort on extended rides. Cut from ESI's signature silicone compound, these grips absorb trail buzz and road chatter without adding bulk — a welcome advantage on rough tarmac and broken surfaces that Indian riders encounter daily, from Pune's city outskirts to the rocky descents around Coorg and Ooty.

Our Take

If you've ever finished a long ride with numb palms or pressure hot spots, these extra-long grips address that directly. The additional length gives bigger hands or riders who prefer a wide grip stance genuine room to move, which matters on multi-hour climbs through the Western Ghats or when navigating the unpredictable road surfaces around Hyderabad and Chennai. Silicone naturally stays tacky even when sweat-soaked, making these a smart pick for India's humid riding season — no tape-wrap required, no slipping mid-descent.

Sizing for Indian Riders

At 8.25 inches, these grips suit riders with medium to large hand sizes. ESI sizes are based on length rather than circumference, so the XXL designation refers to grip length, not thickness. If you currently ride standard-length grips and feel cramped, these offer meaningful extra coverage. Riders with smaller hands may find the length excessive — in that case, ESI's shorter options are worth considering.

Compatibility Notes

These grips fit standard 22.2 mm mountain bike and flat handlebars. They are lock-on free — installation uses rubbing alcohol or hairspray as a slip agent, then a secure bond forms once dry. Not compatible with drop bars or aero bars. Compatible with bar-ends when positioned correctly. Clean with mild soap and water; avoid solvent-based cleaners that can degrade silicone.

Pairs Well With

Complete your cockpit setup with a matching flat or riser handlebar, ergonomic bar ends for longer climbs, a quality stem with appropriate rise, and padded cycling gloves for added protection on rough Indian roads. Each of these categories is available at Cobbled Climbs.
