Description
The Merida Big Nine 15 is a mountain bicycle built on an aluminium frame, engineered for riders who want a capable, ready-to-ride platform. Whether you are exploring gravel paths around Pune, tackling loose trail sections near Lonavala, or simply building fitness on the open roads outside Hyderabad, this bike is designed to handle varied terrain with dependable componentry from day one.
Use Cases
Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.
Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.
Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.
Our Take
At Rs. 32,990, the Big Nine 15 sits at a compelling entry point for serious mountain riding in India. The aluminium frame handles the abuse of patchy forest roads, rocky descents, and the grit that monsoon season leaves behind. For riders in Pune, Coorg, or the trails around Ooty looking for a genuine mountain bike — not a hybrid dressed up for dirt — this Merida delivers honest performance without overcomplicating the decision.
Sizing for Indian Riders
Merida uses seat tube length or S/M/L sizing across their mountain range. Indian riders tend to sit at the smaller end of European size charts, so measure your inseam carefully before ordering. In 35°C+ heat, a slightly more upright position reduces fatigue on longer climbs. When between sizes, size down for technical trail riding, size up for comfort on longer distance adventures.
Compatibility Notes
The Big Nine 15 ships as a complete bicycle with all specified components. Pedals are not included — choose flat pedals or clipless MTB pedals matched to your shoes. The aluminium frame is compatible with standard mountain bike components. A first-service inspection after the initial 100 km is strongly recommended to check cable stretch and bearing preload.
Pairs Well With
Round out your setup with a quality MTB helmet for trail riding, clipless or flat MTB pedals matched to your preference, a hydration pack for longer rides in the Sahyadri hills, and a floor pump with a Presta-compatible head for home tyre maintenance.
