Shimano Cassette Lockring Tool

The IceToolz Shimano Cassette Lockring Tool is a workshop and roadside essential for anyone running a Shimano-compatible cassette. Whether you are swapping cassettes for a climb-heavy route through the Western Ghats or doing a seasonal drivetrain service at home in Pune or Delhi, this single-purpose tool makes the job clean, correct, and repeatable without damaging your freehub. Cobbled Climbs is the exclusive Indian distributor for Campagnolo in India.

Use Cases

Climbing setups. Wide-range cassettes for steep Western Ghats, Lavasa, and Nilgiris climbs.

Flat-terrain training. Tight-ratio cassettes for criterium and flat-road training in cities like Chennai and Ahmedabad.

All-rounder. Mid-range cassettes for rides combining flats and climbs.

Our Take

India's varied cycling calendar — from the grinding ascents above Lonavala to the flat sprint training rides around Hyderabad — demands frequent cassette swaps and drivetrain maintenance. This IceToolz lockring tool handles that job with precision and a grip that stays reliable even with sweaty hands in 35°C+ heat. At Rs. 690 it is one of the most sensible single-tool purchases a Shimano-drivetrain rider can make. Keep it in your workshop kit permanently.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This is a workshop tool, not a wearable, so body sizing does not apply. However, confirm your cassette standard before ordering — this tool is designed for Shimano-splined lockrings. Riders running SRAM or Campagnolo lockrings will need a different interface. If unsure about your drivetrain standard, the Cobbled Climbs team can guide you before purchase.

Compatibility Notes

Compatible with Shimano-splined cassette lockrings across road, gravel, and MTB drivetrains. Works with standard 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch drive ratchets or adjustable spanners. Pair with a chain whip for cassette removal. Not designed for SRAM XD, XDR, or Campagnolo N3W freehub bodies. Verify your freehub standard before ordering.

Pairs Well With

For a complete drivetrain service setup, consider adding a chain whip tool, a quality bike-specific torque wrench, a drivetrain degreaser and lubricant kit, and a cassette storage case. All available at Cobbled Climbs with free delivery on orders above Rs. 2,500.
